Authentic Indian cuisine and in-home cooking parties and cooking classes in Truro, NS.
I share my family recipes along with customs that have been handed down to me through generations. My mother taught me how to cook at a very young age. She believes that when a person cooks, they share their feelings and attitudes through the food that they prepare. So, I never cook if I am upset. I try always to have a positive frame of mind when I am preparing food. I will bring this approach to my classes and parties.
Private Lessons
Choose from my two lesson options: one-time private lessons that include a main dish, rice or bread, and a non-alcoholic beverage, or my 5-week lessons that include dals, appetizers, breads, biryanis, and curries.
I also give tips on how to make more dishes from one curry sauce, explain the health benefits of the spices we use in the cooking, how to cook healthy versions of Indian food, and how to say dishes in my language!
Group Lessons
Group lessons allow a group of friends to enjoy an evening of cooking (and eating!). Guests go home with a full belly, a recipe card and a starter set of spices to keep the Indian experience going in their own kitchens.
Imagine cooking with your friends, listening to Indian music, and dancing along while you cook. After the class, you are going to take home a recipe card, a full belly, and a lot of memories too!
Parties
We will design a meal for your guests that I will demonstrate, including two main dishes, bread or rice, and non-alcoholic beverage or dessert.
My cocktail parties are “edu-tainment” at its best. I will demonstrate between one and four appetizers for your guests to enjoy!
Either way, it’s a fun-filled evening for immersion in a different culture, food, and music!
Meet Your Cook, Nidhi
I grew up in the northern part of India and came to live in Canada in 2002. Many Canadians love Indian food and also have a willingness to experiment. This openness inspired me to start my business.
In my classes, along with learning different regional cooking traditions, people will also experience a different culture and language. I cannot wait to share delicious and healthy food, which can be fit easily into our busy lives.
